Agrarian Trust presenting at Maine Land Access Conference
Join us for the Maine Land Access Conference on December 4th at the Augusta Civic Center, 76 Community Dr, Augusta, Maine 04330, U.S.
Thinking Big on Land Access
Monday, December 4th | 2:30 – 3:30 pm
Severine v T Fleming will be presenting the Agrarian Trust model, as well as a summary report of the OUR LAND 2 conference. She will discuss the new model of land conservation developed by Agrarian Trust, based on Elinor Ostrom’s study of commons administration and the model organization Terre de Liens, which has preserved more than 200 organic farms in France and is a source of great inspiration for land trusts around the world. Severine will lay out the values and operating structure of Agrarian Trust, our methodology and guiding principles, seeking feedback and hopefully provoking reflection and discussion.
OUR LAND 2 was the second national symposium organized by Agrarian Trust last year in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We focused on the 400 year old Acequia (open ditch) irrigation systems as a practical example of durable democratic governance of a resource commons. Severine will show some short clips from the Symposium and summarize the presentations by a wonderful range of speakers.
