Pennsylvania’s Farmers work with Federal Preservation Programs

With success that could be a model for the nation, Pennsylvania’s Farmland Preservation Program as reached a landmark agreement with the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP).  The agreement, which will protect 651 acres across 7 individual farms, was the product of two years of careful negotiation.  This cooperation between state and federal officials for the preservation of historic and at risk farmland is a precedent for other states and organizations to hold their federal land managers to in the future.  Read more about the deal and see a list of the specific lands protected here.
