What is A New England Food Vision?
A New England Food Vision is a collaborative report that considers the future of our region: a future in which food nourishes a social, economic and environmental landscape that supports a high quality of life for everyone, including generations to come.
Incorporating more than three years of collaborative research and input from hundreds of voices from throughout New England, A New England Food Vision calls for our region to reach a bold goal of ™50 by 60 building the capacity to produce at least 50% of clean, fair, just and accessible food for all New Englanders by 2060.
A New England Food Vision imagines a new future that is possible if society were to commit to supporting a sustainable food production in New England. We hope this report will compel people to act by creating new conversations, new collaborations and new, actionable plans. We seek to engage diverse voices and create new inspiration that will lead to healthy food and thriving communities.
A New England Food Vision was published by Food Solutions New England (FSNE), a collaborative network dedicated to transforming New England’s Food Systems in a way that works for all New Englanders, today and into the future.
What are the objectives of A New England Food Vision?
A New England Food Vision imagines a future that is possible if our region were to commit to supporting sustainable a food system for all New Englanders. We hope this Vision will compel people to:
– Gain inspiration to imagine how New England can reach ™50 by 60
– Engage in new conversations with diverse voices about healthy food for all, sustainable farming and fishing, and thriving communities
– Develop new collaborations that lead to actionable plans
Who needs to read A New England Food Vision?
A New England Food Vision is an important tool for food growers and harvesters, food production and distribution professionals, community leaders and policy specialists, and legislators alike. Additionally, A New England Food Vision was designed to inspire, encourage, and engage new audiences to become part of the conversation and action within food sustainability.

– Regional launch: 2014 New England Food Summit
Held on June 12-13, 2014 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the fourth annual New England Food Summit will serve as the first public venue for A New England Food Vision. Many delegates are contributors to A New England Food Vision and this will be their first opportunity to discuss the final copy in an action-oriented working sessions.
– Statewide launch events
A series of state-specific launch events will be held across New England to introduce and engage local leaders and citizens in A New England Food Vision. These events, led and managed by local partners and committees, will focus on the state-level implications of A New England Food Vision and how we can get to ™50 by 60 most effectively.
